A brand could have been around for a long time, but in order for it stay around longer, fresh ideas need to brought in, regularly. For SBJ, the fresh ideas have come in the form of Ayush Mehra, the young scion of the SBJ family. With a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Aston University, Birmingham, UK, Ayush has now expanded the already booming business of Study By Janak to unbelievable limits. Today, he has turned the fashion house into a one-stop fashion destination that offers the best of bespoke as well as couture labels for both men and women.
With the vision of taking luxury personalized tailoring to new heights, Ayush took the initiative of introducing a product line that infused an eclectic mix of Indian couture as well as bespoke suits. At the same time, he also won SBJ the honour of being the sole licensee of Scabal Made-to-Measure in India. Scabal, as is known to those who know high fashion, is a luxury label which offers some of the finest fabrics known to man. And today, under the aegis of SBJ, the very same Scabal offers an extensive range of over 5,500 fabrics to the Indian clients. In addition, clients can also enjoy several premium services such as Tailor-made & Dial-a-Suit, all because of Ayush’s initiative.
He also took a keen interest in designing of the garments and introduced his collections under the different categories of Ready to wear, Formal & Semi Formal suits as well as Ethnic wear for men – the clothes spoke of his understanding of style and attention to detail, which made them an instant success. In his attempt to marry style and comfort, he used international fabrics such as Scabal and Zegna which allowed him to utilise the familiar Indian inspired silhouettes, but with some inspirational changes. This contribution of his, created huge revenue jumps for the brand.
Ayush feels that his key strength is communication, which is perhaps why he prefers to interact personally with clients, offering them a never before experience. His interactions with the who’s who of the country have ensured that his collections are now featured in reputed publications such as GQ.
These days, Ayush is busy nurturing SBJ, while ensuring that the two decade old fashion house stays in tune with the changing times. Having understood how important technology is for the growth of any brand, he has now created a strong online presence for SBJ today. He has installed the highly acclaimed digital platform as a business module to connect with a completely new set of potential clients. It is under his tutelage that the company successfully runs its social media handles – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blog, Pinterest, Websites and E-commerce platforms.
The fact that his business acumen and talent have been recognised is proven by the fact that he was awarded the Young Entrepreneur Award at the Indian Fashion Summit Awards 2013. In addition, he got featured in the Elite Delhi Magazine’s Calendar-Delhi’s Finest 2016.
