Mr. Praveer Sinha is the CEO & Managing Director of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL). Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a Public Private Partnership (Joint Venture) of Tata Power and Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, supplying power to over 7 million people in North and North-West Delhi.
In his over 3 decades of experience, Mr. Sinha has been credited with transforming the power distribution sector and development and setting up of Greenfield and Brownfield Power Plants in India and abroad.
Mr. Sinha is a strong votary of the usage of technology and smart grid initiatives, including demand response, demand side management and roof top solar energy, to meet India's rising energy demand. He is actively involved in interfacing with the Government of India and its Ministries on Policy Issues, Regulations, etc. for sectorial sustenance.
Mr. Sinha also champions the cause of energy efficient and greener technologies through implementation and integration of Rooftop Solar and Demand Side Management for the benefit of the end consumer.
Under his leadership, Tata Power-DDL has implemented several pioneering distribution reforms in the capital city which have resulted in a record decline in the Aggregate Technical & Commercial Losses (AT&C). The AT&C losses have declined by around 84%, from an opening loss level of 53% in July 2002 to 8.59%, which is an unprecedented reduction in the history of power distribution in India.
Under his supervision, Tata Power-DDL has been credited with contributions towards improving India’s ranking in ‘Ease of Getting Electricity’ from 137 in 2015 to 26 in 2017. This has also improved India’s Ease of Doing Business Ranking (by the World Bank).
He has been instrumental in steering Tata Power-DDL to 37th All India Ranking and 2nd Position in Energy, Oil and Gas Industry in ‘India’s Best Company to Work For 2017’ Survey by the ‘Great Places to Work Institute’.
Mr. Sinha is also the Chairman of the Smart Utilities Group (SUG). The SUG lends Vision, Direction and Focus to address challenges in improving performance of Distribution Utilities by adoption, assimilation and deployment of state-of-the-art technologies which are scalable in the Indian context. He is playing a key role in leading the mission towards meeting global energy needs through the Global Intelligent Utility Network Coalition (GIUNC) - a coalition of 14 power utilities worldwide - working towards accelerating the development of common standards, technology solutions and processes for intelligent networks.
Mr. Sinha is extremely passionate towards the development and implementation of CSR strategy of the organization to achieve inclusive growth of the society. He has actively contributed in bringing about huge socio-economic development at project sites which are set up mostly in the backward areas of the Indian subcontinent. At Tata Power-DDL, he is implementing an integrated sustainability model which is transforming the lives of over one million people living in JJ clusters in the National Capital through focused Social innovation programs.
Mr. Sinha has been recognized at various national and international forums for his exemplary leadership and pioneering role for the development of the power sector in the country.
